Community Support Amid The Pandemic
In May 2021, Manulife Financial Corporation announced it will be donating CAD250,000 to Project HOPE to help provide much needed supplies for healthcare facilities as COVID-19 resurges with devastating impact in certain parts of Asia, including the Philippines. In addition to this donation, Manulife has activated its employee matching program to further enable its global team to support these communities in Asia.

Manulife donating CAD250,000 to support COVID-19 relief efforts in Asia
In December 2020, Manulife provided each of its 35,000 employees globally the spending equivalent of CAD50 to ‘pay it forward’ and create their own acts of kindness within their communities. It was in recognition of Manulife’s bigger role to serve communities in need, while showing gratitude for the blessings that Manulife employees continue to enjoy. More than 1,200 employees participated in this initiative, promoting the value of simple acts of kindness.

In 2020, as many parts of the country remained under quarantine due to COVID-19, Manulife Philippines provided free insurance coverage worth P4.25 billion to around 85,000 active two-wheel riders from Grab, Foodpanda, Gogo Xpress, Lalamove, Ninja Van, and Shopee Xpress.* This initiative was our way of recognizing the importance of delivery partners, who continue to brave the streets and serve the community during these challenging times, to help keep Filipinos safe at home.

Providing Land and Shelter Security
In September 2017, Manulife Philippines (MP), together with Manulife Business Processing Services (MBPS) and the local government, marked the completion of Manulife Muntinlupa Gawad Kalinga Village. All 124 homes, funded by MP and MBPS, were turned over to 124 Filipino families. The two-story Child and Youth Development Center was also unveiled. Since the center was opened, it has served as a daycare and a social hall for various youth and community programs. It has also given the community’s youth a place to learn outside of school and when their parents are at work, keeping them away from the dangers of the streets.
