We're building a better business to better the world.

We do this by supporting and enabling Filipino communities to live every day better.

Our Goal

“Decisions made easier. Lives made better.” This mission guides everything we do, including our support for communities.  It is part of our commitment to help people live better lives.

Through our community investments and corporate social responsibility initiatives, we are driving efforts towards areas where we can make meaningful changes. As a trusted global financial institution with enduring presence in the Philippines for 117 years, we remain committed as ever to supporting Filipino communities – enabling them to create a better future.

Impact Agenda

Through our Impact Agenda, we're staying true to our mission in three interconnected ways: Empowering health and well-being to help lay the essential foundation of a good life; Driving inclusive economic opportunities to create a more even playing field for all; and Accelerating a sustainable future to preserve the planet we all share.

This work benefits our business, our planet, and the people who call it home. United in the pursuit of our common goals, we're building a better business to better the world.

Our Philippines business is one of our longest-standing markets and our support to these 3 partner organizations reflects our commitment to the country and its people.

Driving Inclusive Economic Opportunity

Accelerate the upward mobility of underrepresented groups and contribute to making financial solutions accessible to everyone.

Recognizing that many financial habits are formed during one’s childhood, Manulife launched an innovative financial literacy campaign meant for a younger audience. Peso Smart started as a financial literacy program implemented as a series of in-person weekend classes, conducted by Manulife employees for Grades 5 and 6 public school students. It has since continued to evolve and address our beneficiaries’ learning needs during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through Peso Smart x RecoveReads, we’re giving 1,200 students a headstart in life through a three-year partnership with Corazon Sanchez Atayde Memorial Foundation (CSAMF). With proper financial education, they can access economic opportunities that will soon enable them to make decisions that will improve their lives and their families.

Through the Peso Smart Pinays programFilipino mothers from low income communities in Quezon City and Sagada have improved their households’ finances.

Manulife also brought the Peso Smart experience to different universities, such as Ateneo De Manila, De La Salle University, University of the Philippines, and University of Santo Tomas, through the Peso Smart University. Since 2020, it has reached nearly 500 college students.

Since its inception in 2017, Peso Smart has successfully reached more than 2,300 graduates and learners.

Peso Smart Storybooks

Launched in 2020, Peso Smart storybooks are educational books that introduce good money habits to children through visual storytelling. These books tell important tales about common life and family moments where they can learn practical lessons about money, saving, budgeting, and other concepts -- empowering every young Filipino through financial literacy.

When we really want to empower people through literacy, it’s really such a powerful tool for people to know that they have the capacity to chart their own path
