How to Save on a Payday Weekend

Enjoy payday weekends without overspending

Who doesn’t love a payday weekend? It’s two glorious days where you can spend whatever you wish and do whatever you want. Lots of fun, right? However, have you ever thought about spending your next payday weekend a little differently, a little less costly, perhaps? Is it possible to enjoy a payday weekend without spending a lot?

Check out these ideas for a fun, budget-friendly time:

STAY IN
Every so often, a weekend spent at home can be good for your wallet and your health. Use the time to relax and recharge after a long, busy month.

HOST A POTLUCK
A potluck night with friends is an inexpensive way to have fun on a weekend. Have each person bring a snack or two as you watch a movie, play board games (or video games!), or just talk the night away.

THROW A GARAGE SALE
Got a lot of unwanted stuff lying around the house? Organize a garage sale and start selling them. Now, you have extra money to spend while most of your salary remains untouched!

LOOK FOR FREE EVENTS
Check social media for free admission to museums, film screenings, concerts, art galleries, walking tours, light shows and the like.

USE RESTAURANT APPS
In case you’ve forgotten, restaurant or food apps can help you satisfy your cravings without paying full price. Watch out for special occasions and events where you can save even more!

MAXIMIZE END-OF-DAY SALES
Certain restaurants offer discounts on their products come closing time. Make a list of these restaurants so you can stock up on great food for the weekend.

SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES
Instead of getting your food fix from your usual fast food chain, grab a bite from your neighborhood bakery or carinderia.  You save, they earn, everybody wins!

GET COMPETITIVE
There’s a good chance there’s a badminton, tennis or basketball court near you. So why not engage in a friendly competition with your buddies? At most, you’ll just be paying a minimal entrance fee.

MAKE THE MOST OF WHAT YOU HAVE
Entertain yourself with the things around you. Got books? Read them. Got a video streaming subscription? Revisit your favorites! Got a computer or game console? Start playing!

DECLARE A “NO SPENDING” DAY
Choose a day where you will spend no money at all. Turn this into a habit and you’ll be surprised at how much you’ll be saving!

There will always be budget-friendly ways to have fun. All you need to do is look around. More importantly, the habit of saving money should go beyond payday weekends. Because the more money you put away, the more you can use for future needs.
